Jeff Cravath exhibits three landscapes in the form of hybrid animated works designed specifically for his uniquely constructed projection apparatus. Two projectors cast synchronized moving imagery through four semi transparent scrims. The 2D images are both layered and divided into the z axis.
The Ethics and Visual Culture class presents culled read a collection of images and texts that reflect on the questions: “What role does imagery play in how individuals and communities construct their understandings of the world? Who has agency to determine how they are depicted and spoken for in mass media? What does it mean for an image to appear in a book? In a periodical? In the news? On a social media platform? How does text operate alongside or against imagery?”
Lizy Gershenzon and Travis Kochel of Scribble Tone and Future Fonts will join us to close out this semester’s Design Lecture Series, and we’ll celebrate with a silkscreen-on-demand print party beforehand!
